After the gods were destroyed, both Heaven and the Underworld lay empty. Countless native divine posts were left vacant, while all manner of divine artifacts fell into the mortal world. The Western, Japanese, Indian, and ancient Roman pantheons, however, remained active, seizing the opportunity created by the rupture in the native divine order to steal artifacts, claim divine posts, and rewrite fate. Zhou Jianchuan, an ordinary young man from a county town, rents a shabby apartment in Hailin City because it’s cheap. By chance, he discovers a broken name-illuminating lamp hidden in a wall cavity. From then on, he can see supernatural traces invisible to ordinary people and is drawn into a vast maelstrom revolving around divine artifacts, immortality, divine posts, and the nation’s cosmic order.
At first, all he wants is to survive, and to find the ordinary people who have been “quietly erased.” But as he gradually earns the recognition of the Book of Humanity, the Book of Heaven, and the Book of Earth, and witnesses foreign pantheons encroaching on his homeland through the customs of their own civilizations, he finally understands that what he must fight for is no longer a higher divine post. It is the restoration of his land’s own Heavenly Dao.
