A widow is driven out of her in-laws' home with nothing, but unexpectedly discovers a rift in time and space that lets her transmigrate to any corner of the 21st century. She feeds her three daughters by scavenging “trash,” going from a drafty mud-brick shack to building the first new-tiled house in the village. Once sneered at as a jinx, she becomes the woman who leads the village's women to make a life of their own. Twenty years later, one daughter is a teacher, another a doctor, and the third a business owner. The people who once threw her out come to raise a glass to her: “Sister-in-law, I wronged you.”
