In Qingqing Village, an elderly couple make their living farming and raise their granddaughter, Ling'er. Her parents left to work away from home when she was just one year old, leaving the little girl in this small village and coming back to visit only once a year. Influenced by her grandfather, she grows to love nature and animals. One day, he tells her a story about a turtle saving its master. From then on, a mythical tale about turtles takes root in her heart, and she dreams of raising a heroic turtle of her own. According to stories passed down by the elders, the Maya once prophesied that Heaven would one day claim people, perhaps through earthquakes, perhaps through floods. Who could say? So the little girl raises a pair of turtles, naming them and tending to them with care every day. When she turns thirty, an earthquake and flood suddenly strike the village. Just then, the divine turtle in Ling'er’s home suddenly stirs and transforms into a mighty superhero turtle.
