After Losing My Memory, I Became a Confessor

This is a magical world called Eldia. Here, magic can be sensed and inscribed. Spellcraft is divided into four plates: the Red Plate burns, the Black Plate listens, the Azure Plate freezes, and the Gold Plate seals. Three thousand years ago, the first civilization inscribed Gold Plate spells onto stone tablets, then carved an academy district into a volcanic crater, digging down along the ley lines until they reached an unfathomably deep fissure.

In Eldia, there is a race born with the ability to "hear magic": the Spirit Listeners. Cat Spirit Listeners can catch the faintest pulses of magic, while fox Spirit Listeners can pick out the frequencies mingled in the wind. Appraisers are the oldest trade among the Spirit Listeners: by running their hands over a stone tablet, they can feel the paths of magic flowing within it. The price is that the webbing between their thumb and forefinger slowly caves in, while "patterns" grow across the backs of their hands.

Each use makes them grow an inch. One day, they will reach the heart.

That is the fate of this profession, and the light on Linyin's hand when she woke.
