A short story, complete
[Both leads are faithful + devoted to each other]
Protective favoritism × dark, possessive obsession. All the tropes are here for the readers' enjoyment, and there are plenty of them.
After ten years of marriage, Ruan Li thought she and Xie Yan had been childhood sweethearts who were perfectly in love.
Until she accidentally took sleeping pills, drowned in the bathtub,
and Xie Yan locked himself in the bathroom and burned to death.
Only then, hearing the possessive, frantic words of love he spoke before he died, did Ruan Li understand:
what she had thought was a happy, loving life
had felt to Xie Yan like walking on thin ice every single day.
Reborn one month before their wedding,
Ruan Li looked at her gloomy childhood friend beside her and asked, her voice breaking:
“Xie Yan, don’t you want me anymore?”
*
Her childhood sweetheart never believed that she really loved him.
So Ruan Li made up her mind:
If you’re going to watch me from the shadows, I’ll watch you from the shadows too.
She spent a fortune installing cameras throughout the house.
She thought Xie Yan would tremble, hold her, and say, “I believe you now.”
But why did her childhood sweetheart seem to be enjoying this more and more?
*
As they worked to clear up their misunderstandings, Ruan Li gradually discovered
that an even greater conspiracy lay behind them.
An elusive organization, masks that could not be seen through.
She thought things would become increasingly mysterious, but in the end
Ruan Li: :-P
Sorry, my childhood sweetheart is way too formidable. Everyone else, get out of the way.
The male and female protagonists never guessed that someone was pretending to be the female protagonist. People who watched this plot were so anxious. I guessed it, but they didn't guess it yet. The channels of the two people in front of the male and female protagonists are not aligned. The people watching want to put their heads together and ask them to explain clearly, but they don't say it. Then the two people think a lot in their hearts, hiding it from each other, guessing in their hearts, and the people watching are anxious.
