My Educated Youth Wife Got Into Peking University, While I Became a Street-Food Legend

In 1978, the national college entrance examination is reinstated.

Su Qingxue, a young intellectual sent to the countryside, gets into Jing University, the nation’s top university, causing a sensation across the county.

Her relatives try every way to dissuade her, telling her to ditch her uneducated, rough country husband before he and his daughter from a previous relationship drag her down.

But Su Qingxue resolutely takes the father and daughter with her to the capital.

At first, the faculty and students at Jing University look down on them, mocking Lin Zhou as a country bumpkin who lives off his wife.

Then one day, Lin Zhou sets up a huge iron pot outside the university gates and activates the [Traditional Cuisine Master System].

“How can ordinary rice with pork fat taste so good it makes you cry?”

“Oh my goodness, this boiled cabbage is a lost imperial dish once served at state banquets!”

Before long, everything changes completely.

A proud professor who returned from overseas desperately tries to curry favor with him for a taste of candied sweet potato.

A leading physicist gets into a fight with the university president over the last piece of braised pork.

The head chef at a state-run restaurant waits outside the cafeteria every day, begging to become his apprentice!

Surrounded by influential figures who can’t stop drooling, Lin Zhou tosses food in the wok with one hand and holds his adorable daughter with the other. He gives his stunned wife an affectionate look. “Honey, I never meant to become a master chef. I just didn’t want you and our daughter eating badly at school.”
