The period from 1978 to 1988 was a decade of earth-shaking changes for Chinese society.
Household production quotas were implemented in rural areas, and urban reform and opening up were implemented. Countless young people move from the yellow land to the city, from the farmland to the factory, and use their hands to dig out a way out of the cracks of the times.
The story of "Mountain Apricot" takes place during these ten years.
The first half of the story is set in Wangshigou on the Loess Plateau - a rural woman who was forced to a dead end planted a way to survive on that barren slope that no one wanted. The second half is in the provincial capital - she put down the hoe and picked up the wrench, started as an assembly line worker, and spent ten years living her own life.
This is not a Cinderella story. This is a road that a Chinese rural woman spent ten years and two hands to forcibly walk between the land and the city.
Behind her were her younger brothers and sisters, dragging along a selfish and greedy elder brother and sister-in-law. But she wasn't let down. One by one, she brought them into a new life.
