The Regent and Imperial Preceptor Join Forces to Kill the System-Fortune-Stealing Scum

[Historical romance + reunion after years apart + locked-room confinement + two equally formidable, unhinged, scheming leads + eliminating malicious transmigrators with the System + a touch of ensemble cast, a touch of everyone’s favorite]

Hua Linglong was the Grand Chu Imperial Preceptor, a woman who served the gods and occasionally stole a little of Heaven’s fortune and vitality.

She hadn’t left home in eight years. But the moment she stepped outside, she foresaw disaster in the northwest: disease rampant, bodies strewn everywhere.

Living fortune and vitality, Hua Linglong thought.

After running herself ragged, she finally stabilized the situation at Badu Pass. She never imagined that a madman would abduct her from the military camp at Badu Pass.

She wasn’t afraid of being held captive by a madman. She was afraid he’d be clever enough to see through everything.

“Have you started behaving, my lord?”

“Chu Xuanlie, I hate you.”

Who in this realm would dare treat her this way? Who would dare show her such disrespect?

She sat on Chu Xuanlie’s lap, pinning him down. One hand clasped his throat while the other pressed his head down, forcing him to meet her gaze.

“I love you.”

Hua Linglong’s hand clamped tightly around his throat. His face flushed red from the lack of air, yet instead of getting angry, he smiled calmly. Hua Linglong had his hands firmly restrained. Chu Xuanlie had wanted to embrace her, but in the end all he could do was lean his whole chest against her.

“Then kill me right here, my lord.”

His eyes held pleading, destruction, despair, darkness, anticipation, encouragement.

If they died here together, they would remain entangled for all eternity.

“I don’t want to die yet.”
