Weren't You Marrying Someone Else? Why Are You Kneeling Now That I'm Gone?

[One couple, both sexually inexperienced, husband wins her back]

Everyone envied the life-and-death bond between Jing Sheng and Si Qingwei. Signing it meant they would live and die together, a testament to his devotion to her over the past seven years.

But in their seventh year, he personally tore up the contract, sending scraps of paper fluttering through the air like snow.

With the woman who had just borne him a son in his arms, he looked at Si Qingwei with contempt.

“Qingwei, the child you bore is nothing but a bastard. Now that she has given me a son, it's time for you to give up your place as my wife.”

Si Qingwei didn't cry. She simply watched him quietly, as if taking one last look at this world.

Then she turned and walked away, her skirts swishing with resolve.

Months later, Mu Jingsheng, covered in blood and dragging his battered body, knelt before her.

The man who had once been so arrogant now looked like a stray dog. Trembling, he held out a bloodstained black serpent scale.

“Qingwei... Look, I've done so much for you. Can you... forgive me?”

Si Qingwei merely lowered her eyes, her voice as cold as ice.

“Lord Mu, we divorced long ago. What happens to you has nothing to do with me.”

With that, she stepped over him and walked away without looking back.
