In 1921, Baise disarmed and escaped death, and battalion commander Huang Shaohong began the ups and downs of the Republic of China that spanned thirty years. He joined forces with Li Zongren and Bai Chongxi to attack the rebels in Guangxi, ending more than ten years of chaos in Guangxi; he took charge of Zhejiang and Hubei to build national defense, and held the southeastern half of the enemy behind enemy lines for eight years. During the civil war, he pushed for peace between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, eventually abandoned the old camp and launched an uprising, and devoted himself to the construction of New China as a political councilor, writing a legend about the choice of family and country of a generation of Confucian generals.
