The Scorned Little Fox Girl Becomes Everyone's Darling

(Male protagonist, doted-on heroine, frail female lead, a little angst, light magic, mostly everyday life. The protagonist is a little girl, with a bit of a growing-up romance, because you have to raise your future wife from childhood!)

This is an age of magical revival. Everyone has magic and can use it. Even a stray dog on the roadside can wield magic. Everyone’s magic is different: some can do impressive things like start fires or summon thunder, while others can only open doors or control clothes hangers. Still, everyone’s magic helps them in one way or another.

In the distant Neon Country, Jin Ling’er has no magic, not even a trace of magical power. The only changes to her are a pair of fox ears on her head and a fox tail growing from her backside. Her hair has also turned golden. She is eleven years old, and now she has nothing. Her grandmother passed away not long ago, and her mother is gravely ill after working herself to exhaustion. Before she dies, her mother tells Jin Ling’er that her father is in Long Country and asks her to find him. So she sets off alone for Long Country. Her health is terrible, and she doesn’t speak the language there. After many setbacks, she finally finds her father, only to discover that he has a new family and doesn’t intend to acknowledge her. With nowhere else to go, she wanders the streets and alleys alone until, while stealing food one day, she meets the boy who will change her life forever...
