The world is biased against the Hehuan Sect, thinking it only knows how to use seductive arts. But Baili Zhenyue hides power that reaches the heavens. One pipa melody can make the land as impregnable as a fortress.
When the demon clan invades, the Hehuan Sect, stationed on the frontier, suffers heavy losses, and the art of music cultivation gradually falls into decline.
To restore the Hehuan Sect and bring back the glory of calming the world with a single melody, its eldest senior sister, Baili Zhenyue, leads her junior brothers and sisters into the Nine Sects Tournament. Reviving the Hehuan Sect starts with the tournament!
At the Nine Sects Tournament, the Hehuan Sect disciples meet a group of young prodigies: the Sword Cultivator Uncle-Master from the Way of the Common People, the Sword Sect's foremost disciple who devotes himself to the sword, the smiling fox of the Jing family who cultivates both formations and talismans, the aloof and benevolent Fairy Jing, an adorably clumsy poison master, and others. These hot-blooded young people venture forth together and fight the demon clan.
As Baili Zhenyue travels with her companions to save the world, she gradually unravels the mystery of her birth.
The heroine has a love interest: a well-behaved junior brother who is younger than her. The leads save each other.
An ensemble cast, with every character given their own shining moments and highlights. They may not all be prodigies, but every young person has a sincere heart.
"Senior Sister, the Hehuan Sect is our home."
"As long as I'm here, no one will lay a finger on the Hehuan Sect or hurt you."
"I am willing to imprison myself in the Abyss of Ashen Souls until Senior Sister vanquishes the demon clan and takes me home."
"For ten years, a hundred years, a thousand years, we will stay together forever, protecting the Zhongzhou that belongs to us!"
