After his family falls into ruin, a boy drops out of school and heads south to find work, sinking into a mire of lustful debauchery until his life is utterly desolate.
Follow Luo Wen, from a small county town ranked among the least notable in the country, as he sets out to change his fate.
What brings the boy back to the right path? What makes a lost youth come to his senses and finally break his bad habits?
He receives teachings from an immortal master of the mortal world and obtains the supreme treasure, the Huangyu Pearl. He observes the myriad wonders of mountains and rivers and uncovers the supernatural disasters and human calamities of the world.
By day, he puts down roots among the people, serving the public with all his heart as an official. By night, he tears through illusions, roams the human world, suppresses evil, and delivers souls from suffering.
He does not hide in the mountains or retreat to an ancient temple. Amid the surging mortal world, he keeps true to his heart, abstains from lust, dispels karmic burdens, and accumulates merit, carving out a Great Way unique to the world of mortals.
A candle flame from the Age of Declining Dharma.
Do good, and don’t worry about what lies ahead.
