Dream of the Red Chamber: Jia Cong Slays the White Banner Chief

After three years of campaigning on the frontier, I killed a commander of the Plain White Banner and followed Niu Jizong back to the capital to claim my reward. The sons of the Four Princes and Eight Dukes rode along, laughing and chatting, sure they could snag themselves a noble title. But I knew the Great Qian Dynasty was rotten to its roots. The Plain White Banner commander was only a small fish. The waters waiting for me in the capital ran much deeper. Jia Cong gripped the reins and said nothing. Was the fighting still not over? The wars of this world would never truly end.
