The ruthless Dao Elder has reached the half-step Immortal realm. His final tribulation is to understand all living beings. To break through, he conceals his cultivation and goes to work as an ordinary hall master in the Discipline Hall. There, he sees every kind of monster and every entanglement of worldly love. He thinks he is on the verge of understanding, just one step away from ascending. But then that peerless scoundrel, who gets dragged in bound hand and foot every few days, is brought in yet again. The elder assumes it must be another case of fighting, petty theft, or some other nonsense...

"Hall Master, please take a look. We can't get her to talk, no matter what we do. She won't answer any of our questions. She keeps saying you have to interrogate her in person."

"Oh? What could possibly require me to come all the way here?"

"Esteemed Hall Master, I recently had someone tell my fortune. They said you and I are destined for a heavenly romance. Why wait for an auspicious day when we can make today the day? Let's settle this marriage right now!"
