Convenience Store Night Shift: I Became a High-Risk Awakened One

(One female lead + supernatural abilities + a funny protagonist; a bit of a slow burn)

Sixty years ago, someone fired a shot into the ground.

No one knows what that shot opened. All they know is that after it, cracks began spreading deep beneath the crust, and Abyssal Beasts poured out, turning the entire continent into a hunting ground. The survivors built towering walls and constructed the last city directly atop the ruins.

Su Yang works the night shift at a convenience store in the South District. Every day, he stocks yogurt, checks expiration dates, and trades barbs with the manager, Old Zhao. His life is like the store's battered air conditioner: it still runs, but it could quit at any moment.

Then, one early morning, an Abyssal Beast appeared outside the convenience store.

Old Zhao died. He died in the corner, with the “Open” sign lying beside him.

Su Yang should have died too. But as he hovered on the brink of death, a white light burst from his palm.

He awakened.

The Bureau's instruments detected something inside him that shouldn't exist. They called him a “high-risk containment object” and sent people to watch him around the clock. The Hunters' Guild opened a betting pool on how long he would survive. And someone was watching him from the shadows, waiting for him to prove which side he was really on.

Su Yang had only one response: “Sure. Do whatever you want.”

He only wanted to figure out what he had become. But some answers had been written from the moment he was born.

And the thing on the other side of the door was calling his name.
