The Immortal of Great Song: Giving Old Zhao the Imperial Robe from the Start

[Great Song] + [From the Start] + [Zhao Kuangyin]

[The Yellow Robe Is Thrust Upon Him]

Lin Sheng transmigrated from Blue Star into the chaotic Five Dynasties era. He only wanted to lie low in the army and live in peace, but fate pushed him to Zhao Kuangyin’s side.

During the Chenqiao Mutiny, he personally draped the yellow robe over Old Zhao, drawing him into the three-hundred-year rise and fall of the Great Song.

He witnessed Taizu found the dynasty and glimpsed the royal secrets behind the Candlelight and Ax Shadows;

He lingered in prosperous Bianjing, watching endless infighting between the old and new factions;

He crossed the northern frontier, watching generation after generation of soldiers shed blood to defend the border.

After serving several emperors, he earned the right to appear before the throne without fear and saw through the Great Song’s deep-rooted ills.

The tide of history could not be turned back. The Jingkang catastrophe and the lament at Yashan unfolded in the end, just as they had before.

He knew the emperors’ mass arrests and collective punishments were meant to root out hidden threats of rebellion.

The ringleaders, their immediate families, and their core followers were destined to die. The stability of the realm was at stake, and the greater course of events could not be changed.

But whenever the purges widened and distant relatives or lowly servants with no connection to the crimes were put to death, he chose to save whoever he could.

He would not interfere with the great course of fate. In the small details that could not change history’s direction, he searched for hidden chances to leave a sliver of hope.

He lived by one principle:

“The great course cannot be changed, but the little things can.”
