Wumian is already the master of Bloodrobe Tower and head of the Shadow Pavilion, controlling two opposing forces while keeping their identities secret from everyone. He stokes suspicion within the Shadow Pavilion by making its repeated attempts to assassinate Bloodrobe Tower fail. The Third Elder launches an internal investigation, and then an anonymous letter appears: “Do you still remember your own face?” An old acquaintance has come to claim his life.
His method: The protagonist continually changes faces, infiltrating major factions and using information asymmetry to manipulate intelligence and assassinations, delaying the exposure of the truth.
Obstacles: The Shadow Pavilion’s suspicions deepen. The identities he has played one after another rebel or die. His lifespan dwindles, and his sense of self begins to blur.
The price: In the end, the protagonist is trapped in an unfamiliar body. The truth comes to light, and everyone turns against him. He schemes to make Bloodrobe Tower and the Shadow Pavilion destroy each other, taking every secret with him into a bronze mirror. He loses every identity and stands alone before the mirror, unable to remember the face he started with. In the end, all beings are me, yet I am no one.
