Journey to the West: This Wukong Doesn't Play by the Rules

A modern Daoist studies PhD transmigrates into the Lingming Stone Monkey of Flower-Fruit Mountain, with full knowledge of the Heavenly Dao’s script for Journey to the West. He refuses to be a pawn of Buddhism, instead exploiting the tensions between Daoism and Buddhism for his own gain. In secret, he crafts clones and cuts off Jin Chanzi’s karmic fortune of reincarnation. Along the pilgrimage route, he pretends to reform demons and monsters to buy time. For five hundred years, he uses a trick of shedding his shell to deceive the Tathagata. In the end, he attains sainthood, joins forces with the Daoist, human, and demon races to overturn Buddhism’s plan for supremacy, and resets the balance of the Three Realms.
