Lin Xiaoman, a programmer at an internet company, is struck by lightning while working late on a stormy night. She wakes up in the body of a poor farm girl in a fictional dynasty: freshly rejected by her fiancé, deep in debt, and with the whole village waiting for her and her eight-year-old sister to starve to death.
Luckily, she still has her phone.
It runs on solar power, and its offline library contains agricultural guides, business management, and basic medicine. No signal? No problem. Her cached files are more than enough to build a business empire in the ancient world.
Starting with a few barren plots, she improves farming tools, breeds new crops, and opens workshops, face-slapping the clan members who look down on her, her lousy ex-fiancé, and the wealthy landowners who exploit her at every turn.
Oh, and she also found a blood-soaked, amnesiac man in the mountains. He sits ramrod straight, has calluses on his hands, and can pin people in place with a glance. He definitely doesn't seem like an ordinary commoner.
Lin Xiaoman: Help me turn the fields first. We can talk about your past later.
A Chen: All right.
(Later, she learns that the man helping her plow, chop wood, and haul manure was once in charge of the hundred-thousand-strong army guarding the northern frontier...)
Never mind, no spoilers.
