Island Life in the 1970s: The Wicked Stepsister Wins by Doing Nothing

[Period setting] [Stepmom raises the kids] [The whole family dotes on her] [Marriage Before Love] [Comeback]

When Lin Qiao wakes up, she finds herself in a period novel as the long-suffering stepsister.

She eagerly marries a widowed military officer with two children, while everyone in the military compound waits to watch her suffer on a remote island.

Who knew she’d turn around and switch straight to vacation mode!

With a spiritual spring at her fingertips, she hunts for treasures along the shore and cooks up delicious seafood sauce. Life is good.

While people in the compound argue every day over the smallest things, she lounges in a rattan chair, basking in the sun.

And those two supposedly impossible kids?

With Lin Qiao’s “I’ll outdo you at being unreasonable” approach, they obediently serve her tea and water.

Just as she’s counting her money and planning to retire in comfort, her supposedly cold and celibate military-officer husband sees how well their life is going. Late at night, his eyes red, he corners her against the wall.

“Wifey, it’s my turn to get some love tonight, isn’t it?”
