The Manor Lord's Cherished One

A gentle, dependable pastry chef as the pursuer; a reserved, awkward manor owner as the pursued

A blunt, straightforward man VS a manor owner shut off from the world

[Younger man/older man, mostly told from the pursuer's POV]

Modern-day pastry chef Lu Yu is accidentally struck by something. When he wakes, he's in a nineteenth-century English manor, where he's become a footman. The manor's owner, Baron Edward Stein, is lean and handsome, but has lived alone for years because of an old injury. Lu Yu only means to “make the best of things,” but his desserts are far too gentle, and the sight of him keeping watch beside the coal stove in the greenhouse is far too warm. Little by little, he pushes open the door Edward has kept frozen shut for years: beneath the wisteria trellis, beside the mint patch, fingertips wrapping a bandage on a rainy night, a borrowed birthday candle in the twilight... They promise to watch the wisteria bloom together every summer.
