Dual male leads + cross-dressing as a woman + faked death + reborn + substitute + both virgins
Scheming emperor gong × powerful regent shou
Xiao Dingyuan, the regent who held power over the entire court, devoted five years to governing on the young emperor's behalf and protecting his rule over the vast empire.
In the end, he was branded a traitor who had grown too powerful and conspired with the enemy. He was hastily sentenced to death and buried in a mass grave, with no one to claim his body.
Only after Xiao Dingyuan died did Yuwen Ye realize that he loved him.
From then on, he ruled with tyranny and neglected the affairs of state.
Within just a few years, the Great Yao Empire was conquered by foreign tribes.
Yuwen Ye wanted nothing but to die, and eventually took his own life.
After Yuwen Ye died, Heaven gave him the chance to be reborn.
It also promised Xiao Dingyuan the chance to be reborn.
Xiao Dingyuan was reborn three years after his death, in the body of a male consort who had been sent to the harem in place of someone else.
Yuwen Ye recognized Xiao Dingyuan at a glance.
But Xiao Dingyuan had no idea.
Yuwen Ye didn't dare get too close, either.
Until one day, their identities were exposed.
The two began a tangled dance of love and hate...
He advanced, and the other retreated.
He had nowhere left to retreat...
