I'm more interested in historical settings. Farming, fantasy, palace intrigue, romance, or male-male pairings are all fine, as long as the writing and plot are good. Ideally, there shouldn't be any misunderstandings between the leads. These days I drop so many novels before I even get halfway through. The ratings are ridiculously inflated, and I don't even want to get started on the leads' characterizations.
