My General Always Wants to Climb into the Dragon Bed

[Two male leads · Emperor bottom · Court intrigue and tragic romance]

Ji Hanzhi was born with a secret.

He was the third child of his father and his own younger sister. The first two children died in infancy, while he alone survived and became the eldest prince.

But his body concealed a secret no one knew.

When the boy’s heart first stirred, he realized he had developed feelings for Huo Yanqing that he shouldn’t have. Ji Hanzhi panicked. He was afraid Huo Yanqing would discover what was different about him, and even more afraid someone would uncover his risqué dreams.

So he chose to keep his distance.

Huo Yanqing couldn’t understand why the close friend who had once shared his bed suddenly became so cold. Proud and hot-blooded, he decided that if Ji Hanzhi wouldn’t speak to him, he would go to the army and earn himself a distinguished name.

He was gone for five years.

Five years later, news arrived from the border that Huo Yanqing had won victory after victory and now commanded a powerful army. Meanwhile, the palace was in turmoil, and the emperor intended to leave the throne to his youngest son.

Ji Hanzhi knew that the day the new emperor took the throne would be the day he, the “shameful” eldest prince, died.

With nowhere else to turn, he went to Huo Yanqing for help.

That night, palace lanterns swayed. The boy of years past had become a battle-hardened general. Huo Yanqing gripped his chin, his voice low. “Your Highness, it’s been five years, and you come to me asking for something this big… You’ll have to give me a little something in return.”

Later, Ji Hanzhi ascended the throne, but he remained on guard every day against Huo Yanqing growing too powerful with his army. Until one day, the great general who held power over the entire court knelt on one knee

“I don’t want to be emperor.”

“I only want to be Your Majesty’s empress.”
