Building Infrastructure After Reincarnating as a Convict Soldier

Chen Xiao transmigrated into the body of a disgraced army officer stationed at the Ji Town frontier. When he opened his eyes, he was lying in a dilapidated shack that had collapsed on one side, a thin layer of ice covering his face. Of the 317 men in the camp, three had already frozen to death. There were only thirty jin of millet mixed with sand left in the grain jar. The damp firewood wouldn’t catch, and Liu Qianhu’s lackeys had just kicked over the camp’s last pot of tree-bark gruel, leaving them with a threat:

“If you can’t deliver the grain in three days, the whole camp will be charged with defying orders and beheaded.”

Then a voice rang in Chen Xiao’s mind:

[Infrastructure System activated. Newbie quest: Build your first greenhouse. Reward: 50 jin of cold-resistant potato seeds.]

If there was no food, he would grow his own. If there were no iron tools, he would smelt his own. If there were no city walls, he would build them himself. If there was no way to survive, he would fight to make one.

From the first greenhouse, the first batch of molten iron, and the first frontier blade, to bastions, flintlock rifles, and concrete walls; from three hundred men in a ruined camp to four garrisons and three counties; from repelling the Tatars to putting down the rebels; from guarding the northern frontier to unifying the realm.

He wasn’t just cultivating the land. He was building a new dynasty.
