I Lost My Job and Met an Evil Ghost, So I Became a Disciple of the Purple Star Emperor

I’m thirty this year, unemployed, and buried under a massive loan. The only place I can afford to rent is this cheap, run-down old apartment building that’s about to be demolished. I never expected to encounter a vengeful ghost coming for my life on my very first day there. I sought help from every temple master, folk exorcist, and even spirit medium I could find, but none of them could save me. With nowhere else to turn, I came across the Northern Emperor’s lineage online. They kill, they don’t redeem. If I went straight to the Great Emperor Ziwei and became his disciple, which evil spirit or vengeful ghost would dare mess with me? Even if it didn’t work out, I’d only end up in Iron Enclosure Mountain after death. The ghosts want my life? They can go fight over it with the Northern Pole Exorcism Bureau!

A hundred years ago, the Ziwei Star descended to earth to restore China. He set a rule: for a hundred years, no demons or immortals could wreak havoc on Chinese soil, and no mountain spirits or tree monsters could show themselves to humans. The hundred-year term is about to end, and spiritual qi revival is underway. The rats lurking in the shadows, feeding on the fortunes of the living, are gradually emerging into the open.
