During a routine interstellar survey, the distant Bolte people detect an anomalous signal. They successfully capture Voyager 1, sent out by humanity, and decipher the data on its golden record. When they reach Earth's coordinates, they discover that Earth no longer exists: it has been completely torn apart by a cosmic force. In the end, the Bolte people develop a means of traveling through time and space, return to the past, and embark on a grand interstellar mission to save Earth.
