Movie Emperor Cheng Is Secretly Married

The third time Li Nian caught her boyfriend, Cheng Yu, “going over the script alone” with Liang Cha, the female lead from their production, in a van, she broke up with him on the spot. That same day, her grandmother suffered a sudden heart attack and was hospitalized. Cheng Yan showed up as a “friend” and paid the medical bills. While ill, her grandmother entrusted Li Nian to Cheng Yan, and the two registered their marriage in secret.

After the wedding, Li Nian kept her distance, but Cheng Yan quietly paved the way for her, helping her land roles and blocking malicious articles. When Cheng Yu discovered their relationship, he flew into a rage and spread rumors throughout the industry that Li Nian had “slept her way to the top.” Liang Cha seized the opportunity to expose the truth about Li Nian being blacklisted five years earlier, hoping to drive a wedge between the couple.

Li Nian found an old text on Cheng Yan’s phone that read “Wait for me.” She believed he had known what was happening to her five years ago and had chosen not to save her. With one misunderstanding piled on another, she asked for a divorce, retired from acting, and disappeared for two years.

Two years later, Li Nian returned with a new project and reunited with Cheng Yan at an awards ceremony. Cheng Yan publicly revealed that he was married and played audition footage from eight years earlier, exposing the truth behind her blacklisting: he had been laying the groundwork in secret all along, waiting until he was powerful enough to clear her name. With the misunderstanding resolved, the two rekindled their relationship.
