How Did This Old Fisherwoman Become the Richest at Sea?

I'm an old fisherwoman who's spent her whole life in Wangya Village without ever going anywhere else. Ten years ago, my son was lost at sea, but the Shen family, the biggest maritime merchant house in the capital, rescued him. Ten years later, the Shen family was disgraced and confiscated. My benefactor, Master Shen, left his two notorious wastrel children in my care. Looking at the Shen siblings, who had once lived in silk and luxury, I sighed and handed them two rusty iron shovels. “Why are you crying? As long as we still have our hands, the Dragon King of the Sea won't let us starve!” At first, the young master couldn't tell kelp from poisonous weeds and nearly got the whole family killed. The young lady saw a sea cucumber, screamed that it was a water monster, and clung to me, trembling. But then things took an unexpected turn. The young master discovered that the pearls in the sea were even bigger than the tribute pearls in the capital. His eyes practically turned green, and he spent every day underwater, refusing to come up. The young lady made top-quality rouge from sea salt and seaweed, and it sold out across Jiangnan. With the rough-and-ready rules of a fishing family, I turned two useless layabouts into masters of the sea. Three years later, the court overturned the Shen family's conviction, and an eight-man sedan chair arrived to bring the Shen heirs back to the capital. When the imperial envoy saw the dozens of ocean-going merchant ships at the port, his legs nearly gave out. The young master Shen walked by bare-chested, carrying a two-hundred-jin giant grouper, and rolled his eyes. “Become an official? A few taels of silver a month wouldn't even buy Granny two taels of yellow wine!”
