When I was five years old, my father matched me with a ghost bride on the night of the Ghost Festival, leaving behind an ugly jade and a black dog, and then disappeared from home. From then on, I, Dongfang Ben, and the old dog depended on each other for life, and they grew up to be eighteen years old.
After the old dog died, strange things happened one after another. First, I was targeted by a vixen who transformed into a beautiful woman and forced me to get married every night. Later, a group of paper-figure evil soldiers came to my rescue and led to the snake-shaped ring of unknown origin on my hand - which actually contained a trace of the soul of a female ghost named Qiu Yue. She claimed to be my master and said that without her protection, I would have died eight hundred times.
Immediately afterwards, a lame leader from the village came to the stage to sing an opera, "Dragon Man", which talked about the fate of humans and dragons, and the repayment of kindness. In the middle of the play, the whole place was filled with ghosts and yellow talismans flying. Qiu Yue dragged the ghosts away and ordered me to run eastward all night.
