A retired college student woke up and became a starving refugee in the troubled times of the Five Dynasties.
He had no system and could not remember the complete history. He only knew that after Shi Jingtang cut off the sixteen states of Yanyun, the north gate of the Central Plains was opened, and countless people in later generations had to pay the price for it.
But when he woke up, let alone Shou Yanyun, he couldn't even grab a mouthful of porridge.
From refugees to pawns, from servants to generals, he has seen famines, defeated armies, changing flags, and ceding lands along the way. He has also seen too many people die in front of the northern gateway that should not have been lost.
Later, someone asked him why he had to look north to Yanyun.
He said: "Once some doors are handed over, future generations will have to spend a lot of lives to open them again."
