In the late 1950s, a group of children living in the family dormitories of a large state-owned factory entered primary and middle school around 1958, then went out into the world to work hard in all kinds of fields. They experienced countless major and minor events, both personal and generational, that left a lasting impression.
More than sixty years later, in the early twenty-first century, those childhood friends had become a group of octogenarians and nonagenarians. Led by Zhang Sange and Liu Da, they organized several reunions to reflect on the present and remember the past. They marveled at the sweeping changes in the country's economy and in their own lives and work, as society made great strides toward a new era of civilization, prosperity, democracy, rule of law, and strength. They had much to share. Sitting together and comparing then and now, they celebrated the country's progress and the prosperity and happiness of families everywhere.
Together, they reflected on how hard-won the happy lives of the country and its people were, recording the words, blessings, and reflections of a group of elderly people. A moving and delightful tribute!
Happiness, happiness, happiness
