Overworked office drone Lin Xiaoman unexpectedly binds himself to the Ridiculous Career System. While other people draw sword immortals, miracle doctors, and war gods, he gets “temporary security guard,” “wedding emcee,” “square-dance leader,” and “pet communicator,” along with a trial card for “cafeteria lunch lady.” He thinks his life is completely over, but as rule-based supernatural phenomena begin appearing throughout the city, he discovers that these seemingly useless jobs are just what he needs to crack one absurd and dangerous rule-bound scenario after another.
