FQJJZ's Wandering Journal

My name is Jiang Jinzhou, and I come from the planet FQ-JJZ.

By Earth's astronomical standards, that place is about 47 million light-years from the Solar System. Of course, that figure may not be accurate. Given the limits of Earth's current observational capabilities, people there can't even confirm whether the FQ-JJZ galaxy actually exists.

I understand.

They're a primitive civilization, after all.

Like toddlers who have just learned to walk upright, they always think the patch of starry sky above their heads is the whole universe.

Back home, every child must complete their first stellar jump at the age of twelve. At sixteen, they begin learning how to fold space. The final question on the adult qualification exam usually asks candidates to infiltrate an unfamiliar planet without alerting its local civilization and obtain data on the planet's core energy source.

I passed that exam ranked third on my planet.

As for why I wasn't first...

That involves a rather embarrassing episode, so I'll leave it for another time.
