Seizing the Throne and Enacting Reforms in The Yongzheng Dynasty

This story follows the events after Emperor Yongzheng ascends the throne. After Emperor Kangxi dies, Fourth Prince Yinzhen takes the throne. During his reign, he faces a series of historical events as he seeks to implement new policies, curb the embezzlement of officials and gentry, and rein in factional struggles and pressure within the imperial court. These include the reform requiring taxes to be paid according to population and land, the return of tax surcharges to the public treasury, the requirement that the gentry perform corvee labor and pay taxes like everyone else, the examination boycott case in Henan, an iron-cap prince's attempt to force his way to the throne in the main hall, and the tearful execution of his own son.
