Sunshine Over the Green Mountains

[Both leads have only ever loved each other; male lead is reborn; older man, high-ranking official romance; fictional plot, unrelated to reality] Wen Jiaoyang is as her name suggests: warm and resolute. So is her love for Zhao Yuheng. In her previous life, Zhao Yuheng was an immaculate gentleman who upheld propriety and self-discipline, like a verdant mountain. A favored son of heaven, he refused to go along with corruption and stood up for the disadvantaged, making him a good official in the eyes of the people. Just as his career was flourishing, he was falsely accused and persecuted. At the darkest moment of his life, Wen Jiaoyang helped him preserve his dignity. In this life, the man as gentle as jade and as steadfast as a mountain begins to approach her of his own accord. Wen Jiaoyang is a coward. She does not dare let her secret crush see the light of day, so she keeps it hidden in her heart. One day, however, he lowers his head with red-rimmed eyes, yearning for her love, and says, “I’ve lived for more than thirty years, and I understand that many things are meant to happen or not happen. You can’t force them. But I still want to tell you clearly that I like you, Wen Jiaoyang. And I’m asking you to try to like me, too.” Wen Jiaoyang takes his hand and says gently but firmly, “If you firmly choose me, then you will be the only one in my options.” One day, Zhao Yuheng discovers a notebook filled with his name. Only then does he understand that, in both this life and the last, there has always been a girl who loved him with unwavering devotion. Zhao Yuheng: I will chase the sun that never fades, even through darkness and hardship. Wen Jiaoyang: Every step I took before counts, and every gust of wind has blown me along the road toward the spring mountains. [Keep chasing the wind and the moon; when the plains end, green mountains await.]
