Across the Heavens, I Went to Make Cards and Lost Contact

(Not a wuxia world)

"Hey, have you heard? There's a lunatic going around swinging all these colorful cards."

"You've heard about him too? They say he turns the people he captures into cards. Apparently, his victims beg for mercy the whole time, but they still end up dead."

"Seriously? Does he have any distinguishing features? I need to stay out of his way."

"I heard he wears a sword at his waist, and every so often he pulls out a blue spear and uses it like a dart. He's dressed in black from head to toe."

Chen Xiang crouched off to the side, rubbing a card between his fingers as he quietly listened to all the slander.
