Old electrician Chen Gang is accidentally electrocuted while showering. An investigation reveals that Wang Xiufen, a meddlesome older woman, cut the ground wires throughout the entire building and sold them for 27 yuan to buy half a kilo of pork ribs. He posts a dire warning in the residents' group chat, only to be cursed and threatened by Wang and her son, Liu Qiang, who also smash his belongings. The neighbors look on indifferently, the property management company refuses to get involved, and the power company has no authority to intervene. After repeated warnings go unheeded, Chen can only protect himself by reinforcing the wiring and secretly gathering all the evidence. Wang gets even bolder, stealing electricity and making unauthorized connections. At last, during a thunderstorm, she causes a deadly short circuit. Mother and son are both electrocuted while showering: her son becomes a vegetable, and Wang has to have a limb amputated, leaving her disabled. Only then do the residents of the building realize how badly they have messed up. In the end, Chen hands over the complete chain of evidence.
