Wang Yu’s soul transmigrates into the Yunshen Continent. The moment he opens his eyes, he is the sole survivor of an Evil Gu Master’s human experiments.
Seventeen batches of test subjects, more than three hundred lives, all exploded under the devouring of the evil Gu. Only he endured the Gu’s poison and survived by sheer luck. But survival was no blessing. The Evil Gu Master kept him locked in a lightless Gu-breeding pit, where he was nothing more than experimental material to be used at any moment. Day after day, Gu poison gnawed at his meridians, and he could see no way out.
People say that practicing Gu arts leads to corruption and inevitable backlash. Cultivators either become inhuman monsters or suffer the destruction of their foundations and die without a body left behind. The orthodox sects regard Evil Gu cultivators as a thorn in their side and kill them on sight.
At the brink of despair, Wang Yu accidentally stumbles upon the ruins where a core disciple of the Tiansheng Sect fell. A surviving imprint from a sacred spring unlocks a lost method for cultivating both orthodox and unorthodox paths. Evil Gu are violent and devour their masters? The sacred spring’s power purifies the Gu poison, turning its violence into pure vital Gu power, with no risk of backlash. Orthodox Gu arts advance too slowly? Add secret Evil Gu techniques to unleash your potential, and your cultivation soars by the day, breaking through realms as easily as drinking water. The path of Gu cultivation that no one else could traverse in a lifetime is one Wang Yu manages to walk in both directions, thanks to the sacred spring’s source.
Escaping the lightless Gu-breeding cage, Wang Yu wields Evil Gu as his blade and the sacred spring as his foundation. Along the way, he collects ancient exotic Gu, breaks deadly traps, delivers face-slapping blows to Evil Gu sects, and shakes the orthodox cultivation world. No one knows that this upheaval in Gu cultivation, which will sweep across the entire Yunshen Continent, began with a lowly test subject who crawled out of a pile of corpses.
As he steps ever closer to the heart of the cultivation world, the secrets behind the Evil Gu experiments, the ties between the sacred spring and ancient Gu, and the centuries-long conflict between the orthodox and unorthodox paths...
