The Ghost at the Door

There is an old custom in the village. For three nights before someone dies, a voice calls their name from outside their door. If they hear it and don’t answer, nothing happens. If they do, their soul follows the voice away, and they will die within three days. This is called “Ghost Knocking.”

Before my great-uncle died, he said someone was calling him from outside. He answered. He died. Now it’s my turn.
