Great Tang: I’m Already a Prince, and You’re Telling Me This Is Journey to the West?

After transmigrating to the Tang Dynasty, Chen Haonan fought across the land and was on the verge of building an age of prosperity all his own.

Who could have guessed that Guanyin would come calling to tell him about the Journey to the West? This was outrageous. How could the flourishing age he had built become a tool for the gods and Buddhas of the myriad heavens to harvest faith and merit?

“Journey to the West? Not even a dog would go!” Chen fired back at the Bodhisattva of the Buddhist faith, demanding compensation.

He exposed Guanyin's hypocritical scheme, forced the Tathagata to bow and compromise, reversed the river of time, married Yin Wenjiao, the birth mother of Tang Sanzang, and then promptly threw the guilty Dragon King of the Jing River into a pot to stew.

It turned out that the prosperous Tang Dynasty under the Zhenguan reign was merely a mortal chessboard for the Journey to the West.

The Heavenly Court decreed fate, the Buddhist faith schemed for merit, and both treated the mortal throne as a pawn.

The pilgrimage for scriptures? The Buddhist teachings of the Western Heaven?

If the gods and Buddhas wanted to use the Tang Dynasty as a stepping stone, then I would wield the mortal kingly way to crush the Western Heaven's predetermined script and let all the immortals and Buddhas taste the wrath of the Tang Dynasty.
