Eating Up the Gossip with a Baby in the 1980s: The Disabled Commander Gets Back on His Feet

A young nanny with a child arrived at the Jingbei military compound. Everyone said the woman was too flirtatious and that the short-tempered, disabled Major General Fu Zhanbei would kick her out sooner or later.

But who could have guessed that Fu Zhanbei wouldn’t send her packing? Instead, he spoiled her rotten.

No one knew that Fu Zhanbei could hear Sheng Nanqiao’s thoughts.

[Oh, wow! Political Commissar Zhang next door had his secret stash hidden in the coal briquettes found by his wife. He’ll be kneeling on a washboard tonight!]

[Tsk, tsk. That aloof star of the arts troupe is actually an enemy spy? And she’s been poisoning people’s teacups?]

[Oh my god! The traitor who caused Fu Zhanbei’s plane to crash and left him paralyzed was the deputy commander he trusted most!]

Thanks to the nanny’s gossipy inner monologue, Fu Zhanbei exposed the traitor, rooted out the enemy spies, and even healed his legs, returning to the top of his game.

Then one day, Sheng Nanqiao discovered that Fu Zhanbei was her son’s father. She packed her bags in the middle of the night and prepared to run.

Fu Zhanbei sealed off the station with a fully armed security company. Holding the little boy by the scruff, he sneered at the woman before him. “Where do you think you’re going with my son?”
