Everyone in the Great Chu dynasty says the seventh prince, Gu Jingxing, is a good-for-nothing. He spends all day walking his birds and fighting crickets, and even the Grand Tutor has given up on him. But nobody knows that this guy is an even better actor than the myna he keeps, playing dumb and pretending to be clueless. At court, he smiles as he digs a pit, and his opponents jump right in and help him bury it. The crown prince thinks he’s useless, the chancellor thinks he’s an idiot, and the imperial consort thinks he’s a poor little thing. Until one day, they all realize they’ve been sold out, and are still counting money for the guy who did it.
