Many, many years ago, in the late Qing Dynasty, there was a mysterious organization in Xiamen called the Southern Archives. Legend had it that the Southern Archives dealt with strange matters and operated in utmost secrecy. No one had ever seen what it truly looked like, and no one knew anything about it for certain.
Still, a few rumors made the rounds back then. There was the mysterious File No. 69. There was a nonsensical little poem that circulated in Xiamen and Balai: “All night, in the little tower, I listen to the spring rain; how many years have the swordsmen of Xianyang lived? The jade trees rest in the autumn wind, their bamboo mats cold; above the sea, the bright moon rises with the tide.” And then there was the enigmatic, unknowable... Zhang family of the Northeast.
So, you who have read this far, are you ready to hear what happened next? These stories may bring you enormous trouble, perhaps even... death.
If you truly are ready, then welcome to the most highly classified file in the Southern Archives: File No. 69.
