The rules of the beast-taming world are clear: spells identify tags, tags activate spells, and spells provide enhancements.
Every spell set has its own completion conditions. That's common knowledge among beast tamers.
At the awakening ceremony, Ryan summons a completely unremarkable slime.
The whole school laughs at him. His homeroom teacher advises him to drop out and go home to manage the estate.
Ryan looks at the bottom of his appraisal panel. Beneath “Skills: None,” a word is slowly appearing: “Gluttony.”
He has no idea what it means. But he refuses to drop out and applies for an aptitude assessment.
Seven days later, in the tidal wetlands southeast of Port Para, a group of gray-robed figures blocks Ryan's path while he is completing the assessment alone.
Ryan holds them off with flash scrolls and smoke bombs, then makes a desperate escape into a patch of low-growing woods.
Deep underground lies a cave sealed for a hundred and fifty years. In the magic circle at its center crouches a white peacock.
It says, “Let's make a deal. Help me get out, and I'll take care of your pursuers.”
Ryan says, “Fine. But I want a soul contract.”
“Are you insane?”
Silence fills the magic circle for a long while.
Then silvery-white light pours into Ryan's brow, and the second node of his spell unlocks on the spot.
A Level 78 Holy Light Peacock steps out of the seal.
Her hidden tag is “Pride.”
And that pink slime is only just beginning to learn what “Gluttony” really means.
It feels good but the pace is a bit slow.
The plot is light-hearted and the setting is quite interesting
It's beautiful. Author, please stop running away.
