[Adorable Pet + Past and Present Lives + Sweet and Angsty + HE]
Lin Wan finds a stray orange cat and names it Tuanzi. Every day, the cat brings home old keepsakes: a bronze ring, a broken hairpin, a jade pendant. Each time Lin Wan touches one, she dreams of a general in ancient clothes. His name is Shen Du. He died on the battlefield 460 years ago, and his soul was sealed inside nine keepsakes.
The owner of an antique shop tells her that each keepsake they recover restores some of his memories, but shortens the cat's life. After they find eight, the vet says it has at most three months left.
The last keepsake is the red wedding dress she destroyed in her previous life. The year he died, she tore it to pieces, burned it, and buried it beneath the bamboo roots. She never married in her entire life.
Shen Du spent seven lifetimes searching for her. In the first six, he was a vagrant, a beggar, and a veteran. Every lifetime, he was never far from her, but never managed to be with her. In his final life, the heroine married someone else. Shen Du watched her from afar for the rest of his life, then made a wish: “In my next life, I'd be happy just to be her cat.”
In his seventh life, he became Tuanzi.
