The Women of Qinglong Town

At forty-five, in the middle of his life, Sun Dazhu had spent years making his way in Beijing with his first love, ever since graduating from university. Their ten-year relationship ended when her family forced them to break up because he came from a rural background. He rushed into marriage, had a child, and tried to build a life. The pressures of city living and his unhappy love life left him physically and emotionally exhausted. Worn down, he eventually divorced and returned to Qinglong Village in Qinglong Town, Jiangzhou City. Down on his luck, he became an object of scorn for the villagers and a disappointment to his parents, sisters, and younger brother. Under the weight of it all, he chose to jump into the river on a stormy night.

The storm was caused by a ten-thousand-year-old river turtle undergoing its heavenly tribulation to ascend. It saved him in passing and bestowed upon him the Myriad Spirits Return to the Source Art and its own portable cave abode. Created by the ancient Shennong, the Myriad Spirits Return to the Source Art includes cultivation techniques, medicine, and spiritual-plant cultivation. Practicing it requires cultivating with countless women. The countryside becomes the foundation of his rise. Using spiritual-plant techniques to grow crops, he produces fruit and vegetables of unmatched quality. His inherited medical knowledge makes him a peerless figure in the field of medicine. From then on, he lives a life of carefree bliss.
