This book is a fanfiction based on the animated film Forest Child: The Dragon’s Daughter. I love the movie, so I enthusiastically started writing.
The film doesn’t reveal much about its world, but I really love the princess and Pu Anle, so this book is part fanfiction and part my own worldbuilding.
[No romance + witches + Western fantasy + everyday life + academy + ensemble cast]
Her name is Aioula. With ink-black hair, she was abandoned in the forest and taken in by a witch. She grew up in a clan settlement surrounded by enormous trees. There were no locked doors and no nights spent hungry. Sally’s soup was always hot, Mona’s lap always had room, and Io’s books never ran out.
Later, she left the settlement and ventured into the outside world. There she met a girl who breathed fire, a princess who had escaped from a castle, and a gigantic fire-breathing dragon. Some said humans couldn’t be trusted, some said witches were monsters, and some said love was the greatest weakness. But Aioula believed love wasn’t a weakness, and magic was a tool for bringing happiness to people.
She was only a little witch, riding her broom and taking her time as she grew up. Along the way, she met people, laughed, played, and cried, then kept going, setting out for ever more distant places.
Not bad, come on, author!
