In 2018, the final battle came to an end.
Shoko saw the last person off, then snuffed out her final cigarette at the grave. She thought it was finally over, until a wisp of smoke rose from the trash can and refused to fade.
A god calling himself "Old Smoke" held out his hand to her. Go back, taking all your memories with you, and start over from the beginning.
She took his hand.
In April 2001, eleven-year-old Shoko opened her eyes. Outside the window lay the familiar streets of Tokyo. Everything could still be put right. The people who would later drift apart were all still here. And now she had the means to change everything.
The story begins in the ashes of the finale, flowing backward to the first spring. A girl carrying memories of the future, a god who has waited a thousand years, a group of people who have yet to drift apart, and a summer whose story has not yet been written. Shoko doesn't know whether her choices will make the ending better or worse. She only knows that if she does nothing, those people will still leave, one by one...
A work by a newcomer with a three-minute attention span. The outline is ready, and it includes some personal worldbuilding. I'll keep going whether anyone reads it or not. There will be a romance, and for now I'm thinking of making Geto's feelings for Shoko unrequited. Warning: elementary-school-level writing. Warning: out of character.
It seems that I like it very much so far, the author is great, keep up the good work! Forgive me for my mediocre literary talent. The overall writing style is relatively bland but very impressive. Oh, I don't know how to describe it. I just like it very much.
